Upcoming EAStalk Webinar: Advancing Electrochemical Sensors in Aquaculture and Biomedicine

On 10 June, IGNITION researcher Sofia Rodrigues Teixeira will lead the next EAStalk webinar with a presentation on electrochemical sensors and their role in improving animal health monitoring in aquaculture.

Hosted by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS), this session will explore how new sensor technologies are helping to reduce our reliance on veterinary drugs by enabling real-time, continuous monitoring of biological markers. Electrochemical biosensors offer a promising alternative to traditional diagnostic methods, supporting better decision-making and reducing the presence of drug residues in the food chain.

Sofia Teixeira is a Senior Researcher at Tyndall National Institute and an expert in sensor design and fabrication. Her work spans biomedical and aquaculture applications, with a particular focus on immune diagnostics and sample processing. During the webinar, she will share recent advances developed as part of the IGNITION project and how these innovations are helping to promote healthier and more sustainable aquaculture systems.

The event is free to attend and open to anyone interested in emerging technologies for aquaculture and beyond. You can register here .
