IGNITION Holds Its Second Evaluation Meeting at the Research Executive Agency in Brussels

On January 18, the IGNITION consortium held its second evaluation meeting at the headquarters of the Research Executive Agency (REA) in Brussels, Belgium, marking an important milestone in the project’s implementation.

The meeting, held in a hybrid format, brought together 11 project partners in person, including several work package leaders, with additional partners joining online. The review was chaired by the REA Project Officer and supported by two external evaluators, who assessed the progress made during the second reporting period (months 19–36).

Throughout the day, partners presented an overview of the scientific and technical advances achieved over the past 18 months, as well as progress towards exploitation, impact, and implementation goals. Dedicated sessions covered work across all major project areas, including animal welfare in changing environments, non-invasive monitoring tools and machine learning, halophyte biorefinery and functional feeds, novel immunisation approaches, genomic tools, and dissemination and communication activities.

Across all sessions, discussions focused on results achieved, challenges encountered, and next steps, providing a comprehensive picture of IGNITION’s progress and future direction. The evaluators and Project Officer highlighted the impressive volume and quality of work delivered, expressing strong satisfaction with the project’s development and coherence across work packages.
