On September 1st 2025, IGNITION and CURE4AQUA will host a joint workshop at the EAFP Conference in Heraklion, Greece. Taking place in the Minoas Room from 16:30 to 18:15 (EET), the session will showcase how the two Horizon Europe projects are driving innovation in aquaculture health and welfare.
The agenda brings together leading experts from across Europe to present cutting-edge approaches that are reshaping aquaculture research and practice:
- Protecting sole in the hatchery against nervous necrosis virus – Maria Isabel Bandin Matos (USC, Spain)
- Shaping the microbiome of fish larvae with phage therapy and probiotics – Pantelis Katharios (HCMR, Greece)
- Testing epithelial and environmental samples for intravital evaluation of fish health status – Mikolaj Adamek (TiHO, Germany)
- The power of halophytes: in vitro immunomodulatory effects and antibacterial activities – Marina Machado (CIIMAR, Portugal)
- Harnessing OMVs from Photobacterium damselae subsp. piscicida to develop fish vaccines – Ana do Vale (i3S, Portugal)
- Towards precision aquaculture: integrating multiomic biomarkers for fish health monitoring through biosensors – Cláudia Magalhães (SPAROS, Portugal)
This workshop highlights the collaborative strength of IGNITION and CURE4AQUA in pushing forward solutions for resilient, sustainable, and welfare-oriented aquaculture in Europe.
