IGNITION Researcher Wins University of Cádiz INspira Award for Science Communication

IGNITION celebrates the achievement of Verónica de las Heras, from the University of Cádiz (UCA) team, who has been awarded the 1st Prize in the INspira category for Dissemination by UCA. This recognition celebrates her outstanding outreach initiative titled “Resilience and welfare in aquaculture: basic science for the oncologic treatment.”

The awarded action was conceived within the framework of the IGNITION project, highlighting how foundational aquaculture research can spark cross-sector dialogue, linking fish welfare and resilience to wider societal issues such as human health and cancer treatment.

The INspira Awards are part of UCA’s new initiative to honour excellence in science communication and public engagement across its academic community. Verónica’s award reflects IGNITION’s commitment to making scientific knowledge more accessible and relevant to society.

Congratulations to Verónica for this well-deserved recognition, and for helping to communicate the impact of IGNITION’s work beyond the research community.
