We are proud to announce that Benjamin Costas and Professor Juan Miguel Mancera will co-chair the “Animal Welfare” session at Aquaculture Europe 2025 (AE2025). This major event will take place from 22–25 September 2025 in Valencia, Spain, under the theme “Aquaculture for All.”
Organised by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) with the support of national and regional authorities, AE2025 will highlight the essential role of aquaculture in global food supply, its technological and species diversity, and its growing commitment to environmental sustainability.
The session will place a strong spotlight on animal welfare as a foundation for sustainable and efficient aquaculture. Both Benjamin Costas and Professor Juan Miguel Mancera, emphasise that healthy animals not only represent an ethical obligation but are also critical for productivity, disease resistance, and long-term industry resilience.
Researchers are encouraged to contribute by submitting abstracts to the “Welfare” session by 1 May 2025. Aquaculture Europe 2025 promises to be a key opportunity to explore the latest innovations and foster new collaborations, shaping the future of a more responsible aquaculture sector.
Stay tuned as IGNITION continues to support efforts that place animal welfare at the heart of sustainable aquaculture!
