IGNITION will take part in Aquaculture Europe 2025 (AE2025), held in Valencia, Spain, from 22–25 September 2025, with a strong presence in both the scientific programme and the exhibition.
Throughout the conference, IGNITION researchers will deliver oral and poster presentationson topics ranging from next-generation vaccines and climate-ready bivalves to halophyte-derived bioactive compounds and stress physiology in aquaculture species. These contributions highlight the project’s commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and strengthening ties within the aquaculture community.
Oral presentations
- Mariana Ferreira – Immunomodulatory effects of Salicornia ramosissima extracts on Atlantic salmon adherent leukocytes: Time-dependent functional and transcriptomic responses
- Luca Peruzza – Breeding climate-ready bivalves: Unraveling the genomic basis of heatwave tolerance in Ruditapes philippinarum
- Tonka Buha – Skin transcriptomic analysis in Atlantic salmon, European seabass, and rainbow trout under transport-induced acute stress
- Bruno Reis – Rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss chronic stress responses induced by high rearing temperatures: a holistic approach
Poster presentations
- Aminur Rashid – Bactericidal and bacteriostatic activities of halophyte based bioactive compounds against bacterial pathogens
- Christopher Pimentel – Assessing how transport induced acute stress in rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss juveniles may reveal potential welfare biomarkers
- Gonçalo Themudo – Multiomics of European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax) exposed to acute stress by transport
- Javier Román Padilla – Effect of halophyte-derived bioactive compounds on the intestinal health of European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax)
- Paula Simo Mirabet – Assessing vaccination as a stress model in rainbow trout and European seabass
- Paula Simo Mirabet – Physiological and molecular insights into transport stress in seabass: towards non-invasive cortisol monitoring
- Verónica de las Heras Rodríguez – Fish of hope: aquaculture with little warriors in the hospital
Beyond the scientific sessions, IGNITION will be present at Booth 55, where visitors can explore project highlights through videos, interactive board games, and a variety of communication materials. Researchers will also be on hand to share their work and discuss how innovation and cooperation are paving the way for a resilient and sustainable aquaculture.
In addition, IGNITION partners Sparos and Riasearch will host their own stands, further broadening the project’s reach and impact.
The programme also features a contribution from the project’s communication partner Science Crunchers. During the EAS Student Session, Miguel Leal will deliver a workshop titled “From Theory to Practice: Pitching Your Science” on 22 September at 15:00 (Room CS5).
Stay tuned for more updates from AE2025!
