The first week of June was a successful one for IGNITION, with project results presented at two important aquaculture events: the XX Congreso Nacional de Acuicultura, held in Vigo, Spain, from 1 to 4 June, and World Aquaculture Singapore 2026, held in Singapore from 2 to 5 June.
At the XX Congreso Nacional de Acuicultura, IGNITION researchers presented three contributions focused on fish welfare, stress responses, functional nutrition and the use of halophyte-derived bioactives to support more resilient aquaculture production.
The poster presented by Paula Simó-Mirabet – “Efecto de la suplementación dietética con extracto de Salicornia ramosissima sobre la respuesta fisiológica y metabólica al estrés por transporte en la lubina europea (Dicentrarchus labrax)” – where dietary supplementation with Salicornia ramosissima extract is evaluated as a positive influence on the physiological and metabolic response of European seabass to acute transport stress, received excellent recognition at the congress and was awarded the First Poster Prize.
Meanwhile, at World Aquaculture Singapore 2026, Ana Visković represented IGNITION with two ePosters, both receiving positive feedback from participants.
Together, these activities reflect the broad scope of IGNITION research, from bioactive compounds and functional feeds to welfare biomarkers and genetic tools. The positive reception of the project’s contributions, including the award received in Vigo, reinforces IGNITION’s role in supporting scientific knowledge exchange and practical innovation for a more sustainable, resilient and welfare-oriented aquaculture sector.
