On September 18-19, 2024, IGNITION partners SPAROS and Visifish participated in a workshop hosted by FAO on the applications of AI and robotics in aquaculture. Held in a hybrid format in Antalya, Türkiye, this workshop brought together a select group of experts to discuss how AI is transforming aquaculture practices.
The workshop’s discussions centred around the potential of AI to improve fish production, health management, and environmental monitoring – themes which are of particular interest to IGNITION given the project’s goal to better understand how data can be used to monitor fish behaviour and welfare.
We look forward to incorporating this workshop’s learnings into our ongoing research, and to continuing collaborating with international partners to advance these technologies and improve industry practices.
