Fuelling Innovation and Collaboration in Vienna

IGNITION project’s second progress meeting took place on September 20th, 2023, in Vienna, Austria. This pivotal event was hosted in a hybrid format, blending physical presence with virtual connectivity to accommodate the diverse network of international partners. The meeting coincided with the prestigious Aquaculture Europe 2023 conference, underlining the project’s commitment to staying at the forefront of sustainable animal farming.

Representatives from each work package came together to present their remarkable advancements, reflecting the collective dedication to IGNITION’s mission: “Improving GreeN Innovation for the blue revoluTION.” Among the highlights were the latest findings on how European sea bass respond to acute stress induced by transportation, presented by Drs. Paula Simó-Mirabet and Juan Antonio Martos-Sitcha, esteemed members of the “Physiology and Pathology in Aquaculture” research group.

The IGNITION team’s commitment to excellence extends beyond research, as our colleague Paula Simó’s poster was recognized among the top three in its category during the Aquaculture Europe 2023 conference. This accolade highlights the project’s reputation for pushing boundaries and achieving excellence in aquaculture science.

Looking forward to the future of this project, it was announced the selection of Cork, Ireland, as the venue for IGNITION’s next annual meeting in April 2024. This decision promises a dynamic setting for further collaboration and exploration of new tools and opportunities in sustainable animal farming.
